On Saturday, February 22, 2025, Collective SC and NousPointe present REDEFINED, an evening of dance inspired by local artist Chloe Hogan’s series Between Two Worlds.

REDEFINED features choreography by Erika Keller, Artistic Director of NousPointe; Lacey Bates, Artistic Director of Collective SC and Collective SC members Grace Lewis and Izzy Byers. Hogan’s Between Two Worlds explores timeless tales of heroines embarking on transformative journeys—down rabbit holes, through shadowed woods, or along golden paths—to uncover truths within themselves. The choreography reflects these narratives, weaving a vivid tapestry of personal transformation and the emotional highs and lows of embracing change. With vibrant, high-energy movement, REDEFINED takes the audience on its own journey “down the yellow brick road,” bringing Hogan’s enchanting artwork to life on stage.

The evening begins at 6:30 p.m. with a pre-show exhibit of Hogan’s artwork at the Cannon Street Arts Center. At 7:00 p.m., NousPointe will open the performance, followed by new works from Collective SC. Guests are invited to stay after the show to revisit the exhibit and connect with the artists.

Online ticket sales will end at 6:30pm on February 22nd. Tickets will be available at the door for purchase via cash or Venmo.

About the Artists

Collective SC is a Charleston-based contemporary dance company dedicated to delivering fresh, innovative perspectives on contemporary dance under the artistic direction of Lacey Bates. Our mission is to inspire and engage audiences while nurturing the growth of the Southeastern dance community through dynamic collaboration and creative exchange.

Lacey Bates is a professional dancer, choreographer, and educator from Myrtle Beach, SC. She holds a BA in Dance and Arts Management from the College of Charleston and an MA in Education from Holy Names University. In Charleston, Lacey performed with Annex Dance Company and Dance Lab's Entertainment Company and shared the stage with Weird Al Yankovic and Beats Antique during their local tour stops. During her time in the San Francisco Bay Area, she worked with prominent companies such as PUSH Dance Company, Visceral Roots Dance Company, Printz Dance Project, and A Pulso Dance Project. She also served as Co-Artistic Director of The Collective SF, a collaborative dance company. Lacey has over ten years of teaching experience in public schools, non-profits, and renowned institutions like ODC and Alonzo King LINES Ballet. After five years in the Bay Area, she returned to Charleston, SC, where she continues to contribute to the dance community as a public school dance educator, a performer with Elevate Performance Company, and the Artistic Director of Collective SC.

NousPointe is an innovative dance company founded by choreographer Erika Keller in 2024, based in Charleston, South Carolina. The company’s mission is to showcase a diverse range of dance genres that work together to create a visual representation of music, blending the expressive power of movement with the emotional depth of sound. The company aims to offer a platform for dancers and choreographers from various backgrounds to collaborate, experiment, and push the boundaries of conventional dance genres.

Erika Keller grew up in a military family and began her ballet training in Germany, where she earned a scholarship and studied the RAD syllabus, before continuing her training with a focus on classical ballet. She joined Columbia City Ballet and attended the University of South Carolina, majoring in Fashion Merchandising. After moving to New York City, Erika built a successful career in the fashion industry, while also performing as a freelance artist with companies including Ballet for Young Audiences, Albano Ballet, Jersey City Ballet, and Dances Patrelle. After years of freelancing, Erika transitioned into choreography, creating repertoire for American Liberty Ballet, where she also performed as a principal artist for several years. Her choreographic work has been presented at renowned venues such as New York Live Arts, Abrons Arts Center, Peridance, Arts on Site, and Madison Square Park. In 2023, she was commissioned by composer Alex Wakim to choreograph for his ambitious, multimedia production Dust and Ions at Alvin Ailey Dance Theater, a highlight of her choreographic career. Erika moved to the Charleston area in February 2024 and is excited to debut her work and share the stage with Collective SC for the first time.

Chloe Hogan (b. 1998) is based in Charleston, SC, and aims to paint about the constant process of discovering and creating oneself. Her work is a collection of ruminations on memory, ego, and connection to the universe. These ideas manifest in dramatically colorful, emotive paintings exploring themes of identity, performance, and energetic exchanges. Connection to others, and solitude - or connection to the self - are of conflicting and equal importance in Hogan's paintings. Beyond painting, Chloe writes about art and culture for the Charleston City Paper.
